Headed through the river and into the woods? If you drive an MK1 V6 Montero or MK2 Mighty Max with a distributor ignition... hang on just a moment...
Have you looked at the OEM seal on your distributor? It started out as a plush closed-cell foam... years ago, but years of heat and exposure to petroleum might have broke it down into gummy goo, or it might’ve dried out and turned into crumbs.
The stock seal was inferior, no matter how you look at it when you compare it to a quality O-Ring. We’ve spec’d out the right stuff to get your distributor sealed up and ready for puddles and water.
What happens if you go through water without a good seal?
You lose spark.
You might be in traffic, in heavy rain, maybe in less than 6” of water, the mechanical fan throws water everywhere and the distributor sits on the front of the engine. You might be in the woods, maybe in 3 feet of water. Either way, you don’t want to be sitting in a puddle waiting on your rig to dry out. Hoping you have enough battery to keep the engine cranking long enough to start.
