The 2.85:1 low range for the Gen 1 trucks is the only available for the stock transfer case, we highly recommend these for ANY configuration of the original Montero. This is by far the best modification you will do to your Gen 1, offroad capability will be greatly increased by having more control, more torque, less riding the brakes downhill, less heat generated by engine and transmission. Let's face it, these trucks are not getting any younger so why push them to their limits every 4 wheeling trip?
