Designed for the toughest environments out there, just like your Montero. This stainless steel skidplate fits the rear of Gen 1 (coil rear axle only), Gen 2 and 2.5 Monteros. Its the perfect protection for your fuel tank. Fits just like stock except better, stronger, and... faster? Not faster, but these skid plates are far more resilient than stock without being too much heavier and a great way to protect your investment for years to come. They also look fantastic on the truck.

Kit comes with 4 stainless brackets and their required hardware.

Tank tuck??

This skid is known to work with the popular 'gas tank tuck' for the rear of the montero, however, it was designed for a stock montero, if you go beyond that, it's on you and if you've already done the tank tuck, chances are you're far enough down the road with modifications that you're not going to be emailing us for direction on how to use it with a tank tuck. But, if you do email us about it, we'll give you the link to our forum, where modifying products is encouraged, pictures are encouraged and your words of advise from your experience 'making it work' with the tank tuck, is also encouraged!

We do not advertise this as a bolt-on skid for tank tucked trucks, you're taking on the task on your own. (most of what we've seen is you just need two 12mm longer M8x1.25 bolts and two m8x1.25 nuts to make this work with a tuck, but again, all modded trucks are different and this is entirely your adventure, so enjoy the ride!

SAE 304 stainless steel

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SAE 304 stainless steel also known as A2 stainless steel (not the same as A2 tool steel) or commercially as 18/10 or 18/8 stainless steel, European norm 1.4301, is the most common stainless steel. The steel contains both chromium (between 18-20%) and nickel (between 8-10.5%)[1] metals as the main non-iron constituents. It is an austenitic stainless steel. It is less electrically and thermally conductive than carbon steel and is essentially non-magnetic. It has a higher corrosion resistance than regular steel and is widely used because of the ease in which it is formed into various shapes.[2]

The composition was developed by W. H. Hatfield at Firth-Vickers in 1924 and was marketed under the trade name "Staybrite 18/8".[3]. The Japanese equivalent grade of this material is SUS304. [4].

Corrosion resistance

304 stainless steel has excellent resistance to a wide range of atmospheric environments and many corrosive media. It is subject to pitting and crevice corrosion in warm chloride environments and to stress corrosion cracking above about 60 °C. It is considered resistant to potable water with up to about 200 mg/L chlorides at ambient temperatures, reducing to about 150 mg/L at 60 °C.
