Factory style hidden winch kit! 

Put your winch where it belongs: as close to center of gravity as possible, mounted directly to the frame, (not a bolted on bumper) and at the best possible point of leverage. 

Bumper mounted winches are improperly mounted winches when it comes to the Montero / Pajero chassis. We said what we said, if you’re running a bumper mounted winch, you’re just setting yourself up for failure and heartache when you finally get stuck enough to need a properly mounted winch it will already be too late. We aren’t going to name names but competitors who put winches on their bumpers have photos of their bumpers ripped off the trucks when trying to recover from deep mud and large rocks where leverage and center of gravity pull really come into play. You don’t want to be that guy. Their bumpers are great, just not for winches. Think about it like this, if you were hanging from a cliff, would you prefer to rely on four 1/2 inch bolts bolting your winch and bumper to your frame holding you up, or would you prefer to be welded to a 3/8 inch thick plate with a carriage holding the winch in place, reinforced on the front and rear? The plate is the obvious answer but hopefully your never in that situation.

Advanced user installation required: Adequate welder and welding skills are required to install! You're putting yours and other peoples' life at risk if you do not properly install this! You may need to notch, grind, drill or modify this plate slightly for your specific Montero - There's not much walk-through information out there. This is a builder type part. Take it to a fab shop or 4wd shop if you're uncertain. Most mechanic shops wont touch something like this. Bad welds result in your own risk, danger to others and just not good stuff, so be careful. we aren't responsible for what you do with this thing. 

The first and only winch plate designed for ease of installation on the Mitsubishi Montero in the US. Previously you could shop around and find a winch plate close to what you needed, hack it up a whole bunch and then retrofit it on your frame. This plate locates to the frame, with two large holes that line up with the frame horns. Some of the tools required to install this are a grinder and welder. Once complete your winch will sit properly between the frame rails as Mitsubishi intended. In other countries the Montero came with a winch from the factory. The factory winch was PTO driven from the transfer case and mounted in the same spot this plate is designed for.This results in a low CG pull that will extract your truck from the most stuck situations. Other options will have your winch up on a poorly mounted aftermarket bumper, putting the pull at higher CG, more strain on the frame and more likelihood of tearing a bumper mount. Slow and low, that is the tempo!

Some notes on our winch plate:

All frames are subjected to different elements and conditions, this plate has locating holes based off of factory trucks from Arizona that have never been subjected to corrosion or collision, your vehicle may have suffered any number of situation before your ownership, we do not guarantee this unit will fit perfect on every truck, it is far above and beyond anything you can get elsewhere in terms of a direct solution. Many hours of fitment testing and seeking out stock vehicles lacking damage brought this unit to the market. Please understand buying does not provide you with a simple bolt-in solution, if one could exist, we would've made it.

This thick steel plate is designed to locate to your frame, weld in place and support most winches on the market. This winch plate is designed to work with our skid plates, works with stock skid plates, (some trimming may be required) and works well with our modular bumper system on both the gen 1 and 2 Montero, Raider, Pajero and Galloper. Users who install without a body lift can expect interference in the areas around the transmission cooler, remote winch solenoid mounting is recommended.  Check out the video below for more detailed information on the fitment challenges when it comes to leaving the solenoid pack in place. It's quite common to relocate your winch solenoids to a more serviceable area. Gen 1 chassis owners that wish to keep their sway bar will need to use a cut off wheel to notch the back corner of the plate, this can be done in a way that reinforces the sway bar mount. Many of these vehicles lack sway bars by the time they're adding a winch. If you have any questions on this please contact us.
